TRIPUNITHURA: Around 50 Sanskrit research scholars from across India are presenting their works related to Sanskrit literature and grammar at Sasthra Sadassu, a unique Sanskrit meet that began at Government Sanskrit College, Tripunithura, on Monday.
The concept of Sasthra Sadassu was mooted by the erstwhile Kochi King, Rajarshi Rama Varma, way back in 1926.
Rama Varma decided to celebrate his birthday, which fell on December 26, by organizing a Sanskrit scholars' meet at the Sanskrit Patashala.
"The Sanskrit college committee has been conducting Sanskrit elocution and Sanskrit quiz as part of the meet to popularize Sanskrit among the new generation," said committee chairman K G Paulose.
The meet will conclude on Thursday.
